More Fantastic Exteriors

After finding my dream home the other day on HGTV's Rate My Space, I decided to take some time to explore other exteriors that were posted on that site. I'm amazed at some of the homes I found there. Here are a few of my favorites:

This home from angel776 looks like a storybook cottage. Beautiful!

Another picture-perfect cottage. This one belongs to MORGAN-TAYLOR.

Gorgeous, right down to every detail, posted by SDEP.

Posted by TABCAD. I could so picture myself spending hours on that porch, talking, reading, and drinking iced tea.

Yet another stunning cottage. This one belongs to 66nick.

One thing I know for sure is that I am not impressed in the least with the big, huge, sprawling McMansions. I know people spend a ton of money on those homes, but the unfortunate thing is that they all start to look the same to me, and they lack the character that these smaller homes have. I guess bigger isn't always better (at least in my opinion).

So what do you prefer? Would you rather have something that's smaller and full of character like the ones above, or would you rather have a McMansion that's big and sprawling, but lacks the personalized character?

Happy decorating!

Crap! My post disappeared! Well here I go again...

Kristi, we must be on the same wavelength. I just finished posting on nearly this same topic. I cannot understand why everyone around seems to think they MUST buy a huge house in the suburbs. Like it is the ultimate and only prize for a life well spent.

Yesterday I went to see my client who sold her ubiquitous suburban DC townhome for a condo in the city. It is WONDERFUL! I am so proud and a wee bit jealous. Too me, this is the life. Restaurants, dignitaries, culture, people at all hours, right at your doorstep. I am even jamming about the CVS on the ground floor of her building.

Still, I could easily live at the beach...the ultimate lifestyle would be a beachhouse within a few hours drive and a luxury condo in the city. To dream!!

I have a picture of the front door of the first house you posted on my blog as well. I thought it was so special, I had to post it. Personally I love smaller, cozy, warm homes. The large newly built ones are not for me either. I'm not picky about a specific time period, anything with character will do just fine.

The first one and last two are my favorites. They all have so much character. No cookie cutter McMansion for me, thank you. I'll take some cozy, original, character-oozing cottage any day!
