Christmas is definitely my favorite time of year. I cherish those few days off of work, sharing time with family, drinking hot chocolate, and watching Christmas movies. And of course, there's the decorations. Nothing gets me in the Christmas spirit more than seeing everything decorated and draped with garland and lights.
The last year or so, I find myself really loving the big, colorful Christmas lights, like these LED lights:

I know my mom would laugh if she read this. The big lights were "the thing" when I was younger. Then during the 90's, everyone started using the tiny little white lights. I very clearly remember my dad using the big, colorful lights outside, and I was SO embarrassed, because I wanted to use the trendy tiny lights. But now...I don't know...there's something very nostalgic about these big lights. Of course these are an updated version of what I remember from my childhood--a vintage look with a chic update. I love them. I can just picture them on one of those big solid white Christmas trees. Fantastic!
So, it's time. Whether you like the big lights or the small ones, the fake solid white trees or the real green trees that fill the house with the wonderful scent of pine; whether you're celebrating with a few, or throwing the party of the century...it's time. It's time to start thinking through all of the little details that make these holidays so special.
Be inspired, and happy decorating,

PS~~As you're decorating for the holidays, we'd love to see what you've done! Feel free to send you pictures to us, and we'll share them. You could be just the inspiration that others are needing for their holiday decorating!
PSS~~Don't think I've overlooked Thanksgiving! I found a fantastic idea for a Thanksgiving centerpiece/table setting in one of my favorite little boutique stores here in Waco. The store owner is supposed to be sending over pictures, and I'll share them with you as soon as I get them.

I think the bigger lights really tie in with the whole mid century vibe which is so popular at the moment. I am not sure I like them, unless the decor around them is very retro. But that could just be because I grew up with the little lights.
